Virtual Special Issues (VSIs)

Introducing Virtual Special Issues
Aethra Science journals now publish all special issues as Virtual Special Issues (VSIs).
A VSI is a collection of special issue articles that are usually assigned to a single special issue. After being given a special identification number, every article in a VSI is promptly published in a regular journal volume.
- Articles compiled into a VSI maintain their original citation information.
- VSIs are easily accessible and featured alongside regular journal editions.
- VSIs speed up publication by removing the need to wait for the final article of the issue.
Benefits of the New Process
Faster Time
The overall publication time for individual articles is significantly reduced.
Visibility
Issues appear online with the first article, increasing visibility over time.
Management
Late submissions no longer delay the entire special issue's publication.
How the New Process Works
Unchanged Editorial Process
Up to acceptance, the editorial process remains identical. Manuscripts are submitted through the portal and peer-reviewed as usual.
Concurrent Publication
Accepted manuscripts are simultaneously published in the current regular volume and included in the online special issue.
Introductory Text
Space is provided for introductory text to highlight themes, which serves as a placeholder until the editorial is finalized.
"We believe that this process will enhance the publication experience of authors and provide readers with quick and easy access to high-quality research."
